404 Error when Upgrading Parrot OS

Looks like the mit mirrors are currently broken.

California Berkley mirror seems to be working. Would try this mirror if you are in U.S: deb Index of /parrot rolling main contrib non-free

The MIT mirror has been broken for months, could be a year or more. IDK why and how. Again, MIT is 1 of mirrors are not under our control

Okay, but I continue to get update errors because this apt-get upgrade continues to reach out to the MIT mirror, after adding a mirror manually, the errors seem to go away. The script for checking for a mirror should probably be modified so it doesn’t reach out to broken mirrors.

Yeah it is very easy. The hard part is how to do it.

The following steps fixed it for me:

Start the Anon Surf GUI (kill the processes when prompted).
Run the update and full-upgrade commands using the root terminal.

  • I do not know why this fixed the problem, but the process worked flawlessly after these steps.

Because the mirror selector is at server end and it selects “nearest” mirrors for you, based on your public IP.

It appears standard Parrot repos are down again, anyone know the cause , im currently using 1 repo : deb Index of /parrot/ rolling main contrib non-free

it’s common
If it’s down, it’s due to an update and will be back shortly in some hours
please use a different mirror.
