Can't download Parrot 4.8 Security Ed

Greetings -

Using a browser (Firefox, Chrome) the ISO download works until about 1.2GB, then a network failure occurs. This happens on KDE and MATE versions.

I turned off malware detection, disabled detection on the download directory, and I’ve used a VPN: still no joy. Contrarywise, the home edition seems to download fine, though I’ve not checked the sums.

I also tried the network install, but at least the following mirrors would not work: USA, Canada, France, Germany.

I installed wget and tried again. These are the results (using VPN w/ unmonitored download diretory):

Are you sure your VPN does not limit download size?

Try downloading it directly and see if problem persists.

Please accept my apologies: I was not clear.

The download failed using the direct method. I employed a VPN to be assured that some sort of real-time malware detection was not getting in the way and killing the connection.

Greetings -

It seems to have self corrected since the report.

Thank you for the help!

This surely has to be something on their end. I get a mix of 521 and 404 errors when trying to run a full upgrade. I’ve had nothing but problems updating the OS for the past two months. It seems their default fix is to reinstall the OS from scratch. I’ve been loyal to Parrot for many years. I’m ready to ditch it all together now. It’s one problem after the next anymore. Out of all the Linux distros I have or currently run. Parrot always takes first place with problems.

That problem is global problem and it was our backend problem. It has been at least 4 days.

We are using our own code for the infrastructure. Surely it isn’t super stable.

This is because of firewall rules. We faced huge DDoS attack from China. Sometime firewall just blocks users because of multiple requests.

Nope. That is server side problem.

Yes and no. Some problem is from Debian side. Some from our update. By now the core team is having only 5. Most of commits are by 3. We don’t have a good way to manage all bug reports. Users usually ask for a problem instead of bug reports. We don’t usually receive help from community for test / report / other stuff. There are some members help us to reply issues and how to fix problems but as i see in here and other topics, they are less than 5 so if you ask everything is shit because of not enough human resource.
If you don’t agree with me, feel free to PM me. I’m sure we can discus about something that can make Parrot be better.
