im in root no other programs open tryed to reset plz help

From some of the askubuntu forums. It seems that file is locked and could be caused by the system trying to update at the same time you are trying to install, thus locking the required files. According to them, waiting or a reboot should work.

Also see who owns those files, make sure it reads root:root with read, write, execute privileges for root.

One last thing, please answer the remaining questions so that I and others can further assist you.

Also check to see if there is a process running that is locking up that by running # ```
sudo fuser -v /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend

It will show you a process ID, and you can kill the process and retry the install.
