Failed to load module "mouse" erorr

Briefly describe your issue below:
I went ahead and tried a fresh install. First and only thing I did was do the normal updates it asks for. Once the updates complete, the only way to boot without crash is the acpi off option. Thats not a problem.

My problem is I cant get parrot to detect my GPU. I went back to windows breifly to just test and see if my GPU was bad but everything checked out. I go through everything mentioned here step by step word for word.

When I try to run anything optirun it gives me this error.

[11913.085050] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) Failed to load module “mouse” (module does not exist, 0)

[11913.085067] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

I have been on this for about a week and just cant figure it out. I understand linux and nvidia are not best friends but id like to make them at least socialize on parrot. If theres anything else I can provide to help with let me know.

What version of Parrot are you running? (include version, edition, and architecture)
Linux parrot 4.19.0-parrot1-20t-amd64 #1 SMP Parrot 4.19.20-2parrot1.20t (2019-03-09) x86_64 GNU/Linux
What method did you use to install Parrot? (Debian Standard / Debian GTK / parrot-experimental)
Standard
Configured to multiboot with other systems? (yes / no)
No

Firsty, please don’t make your topic name “i give up”, “i don’t know what’s the error”. Name it the problem you facing.

Try running

sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-mouse

Good point. I did run this and insall it and now instead of a mouse error this is what I get with any optirun command.

[ 109.770348] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:2:0:0. Please

[ 109.770372] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

I went ahead and tried to boot with the default option without acpi=off
I still cant optirun anything via sudo or normal user. This is the error it gives me with the default grub boot config.

[ 166.267515] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: Could not load GPU driver

[ 166.267599] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

Try running optirun with -vvv option and open

journalctl -f | grep bumblebeed

in another terminal and try to run optirun again. If errors occur, post content of journalctl.

Please follow this Tuto install of bumblebee and drivers and this Tuto install of bumblebee and drivers instructions.

All of that is already installed as mentioned in OP. Every step mentioned in both of those discussions and also here

I’m just very confused. A fresh install with updates and every step followed in those discussions and the parrot docs and I can’t get it to work. lspci detects my nvidia gpu. Ive tried with both the acpi on and off options.

Also give me the output of /var/log/Xorg.8.log file.

My log says not auto enabling the GPU. Is that my issue?

Ok my problem is solved I believe. Going to do some testing shortly to see. You need to edit the /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia (or /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nouveau if using the noveau driver) and specify the correct BusID by following the instructions therein.

I used lspci to determine what my Nvidia card was listed under which was 02:00:0

Section “Device”
Identifier “DiscreteNvidia”
Driver “nvidia”
VendorName “NVIDIA Corporation”
BusID “PCI:2:0:0”

That is all I changed in my xorg.conf.nvidia file. I just added the last line below Vendor Name.
I rebooted the machine and now I can optirun anything.

Gratz! Look like Xorg had some problems with autodetecting your NVIDIA card, that’s why specifying BusID solved the issue.

Thanks for your help. Everything is still running smooth. And for the record this is also using the default grub config without the acpi option.
