I'm not able to launch VMware

I’m not able to launch VMware

  • I am running “Parrot GNU/Linux 4.8” *

First; when i try to launch VMware, it says “before you can run vmware several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel” and i click “install”, then it says “vmmon and vmnet is compiling…” then it says unable to install all modules see the log…

I’ve checked the log that it refers, putting it below:
vmware-apploader-10047.log (62.6 KB)

Hello, you will need this script, copy it to the notepad and make executable. then just run from the terminal.

VMWARE_VERSION=vmware-installer -l |grep workstat|awk '{print $2}' |awk 'BEGIN {FS="."}{print "workstation-"$1"."$2"."$3}'
echo $VMWARE_VERSION
TMP_FOLDER=/tmp/patch-vmware
rm -fdr $TMP_FOLDER
mkdir -p $TMP_FOLDER
cd $TMP_FOLDER
git clone https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host-modules.git
cd $TMP_FOLDER/vmware-host-modules
git checkout $VMWARE_VERSION
git fetch
make
sudo make install
sudo rm /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libz.so.1/libz.so.1
sudo ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libz.so.1
/usr/lib/vmware/lib/libz.so.1/libz.so.1
sudo /etc/init.d/vmware restart

Try and let us know, but it works for me.

Kind Regards
MG
