Hi,
it is impossible to use apt from Ukraine because of authomatic redirection to yandex.ru
The reason is that Ukraine blocks Yandex and many other Russian sites.
Of course user can edit a mirrors \ sources list but to do so in live mode each time is frustrating,
Cannot initiate the connection to mirror.yandex.ru:443 (2a02:6b8::183). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) Could not connect to mirror.yandex.ru:443 (213.180.204.183), connection timed out
hello, this is a serious problem, do you have any suggestions regarding this? the easiest solution would be to open a new mirror in ukraine, but we don’t know the providers and research networks that may host a mirror in your country
Is there anyway we could get USB flash sticks or CD ROMs of the OS paid for obviously to help stem issues when internet reliability could cause issues downloading and so forth ?
What about if Tea used a VPN and downloaded from a German Mirror ?
you can manually select a different mirror from the download page and get the iso from another country, and most of the mirrors have https support, and no one would be able to inject spoofed parrot images there
if a country decided to deliberately replace all the parrot mirrors with spoofed ones with valid https certificates, then you would still be able to verify the iso hashes by yourself, and our iso hashes are digitally signed with 2 or more GPG keys, and these signatures can’t be spoofed.
but if a country deliberately decided to block access to open source mirrors, then i would definitely approve and support the birth of “illegal” markets selling or giving away updated parrot DVDs or usb sticks, or even hard disks with the whole parrot repository for offline use
(i personally have a little hard disk dedicated to host a full copy of the mirror that i keep updated over time)
For the time being to make post-install upgrade and for the installation of new packages
I edited parrot.list to:
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/parrot.list
deb https://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/parrotsec/ stable main contrib non-free
