we are almost ready to release, let’s start this topic!

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #2

upgrading the debian installer right now

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #3

netinstall images for parrot 3.11 with linux 4.14.13

x86 64bit - https://archive.parrotsec.org/parrot/dists/stable/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

x86 32bit - https://archive.parrotsec.org/parrot/dists/stable/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

really? Great, dude!!

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #5

please test these images and tell me if they work as expected, test at least the 64bit edition

(Spanish Team Leader) #6

of course. Creating my USB right now.
But, really 40MB?

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #7

it is just the installer, everything else will be downloaded from the internet

(Spanish Team Leader) #8

ok, I was thinking in size compared with Debian Netinst. Now I’ll test

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #9

the new iso files are being compiled right now

#11

Would it be possible to install the package “Aptitude” by default on that new release ? Aptitude is more efficient than “apt” for about everything.

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #12

aptitude used to be better but slower than apt-get and the legacy apt interface, but now the new apt interface is pretty clever and provides a very reliable and sandboxed experience, while aptitude is still the old slow alternative to apt-get

(Palinuro (test account)) #13

hello, this is my test account and i’m writing this message from Parrot home 3.11 amd64

IT’S JUST FUCKING AWESOME!

#14

I did not know about that, thanks for the info. And nice to see 3.11 is working fine. Is Bluetooth finally disabled by default like on your screenshot ?

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #15

yes i suppose

#16

how long until the new 3.11 64bit iso is uploaded ?

#17

The netboot installer 64 bits gives a failed installation near 70%
“Unable to install busybox”

if i try again i get "the debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 1).

(Lorenzo "Palinuro" Faletra) #18

the busybox error strictly depends on the mirror you choose, try to select a http mirror instead of a https one

p.s.
deb.parrotsec.org and mirrordirector.parrotsec.org will automatically redirect to near https mirrors if possible, so don’t use them

(Nemo Roy) #19

New Icons are looking fantastic.

#20

You’re right, selected another mirror, it works perfectly, bluetooth applet disabled by default, new tools, sleep applet is working, great. Thanks Parrot Team
