Problem with atom editor

Hi guys,
I have a weird problem with the editor atom, the problem is really simple but I cannot find a solution to it.
Basically what happens is that whenever I try to open some folder from the “Place” section in the toolbar instead of opening the file explorer atom is launched.
I have tried to purge atom and also delete the .atom folder but the problem reappears when I reinstall atom.
I am running Parrot 4.5 with 4.19 kernel
Thanks to everyone

I never touched anything in caja, anyway this is what happens when I select a folder from the desktop menu:

Mar 15 21:55:01 parrot CRON[22595]: pam_unix(cron:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0)
Mar 15 21:55:01 parrot CRON[22596]: (root) CMD (command -v debian-sa1 > /dev/null && debian-sa1 1 1)
Mar 15 21:55:01 parrot CRON[22595]: pam_unix(cron:session): session closed for user root
Mar 15 21:55:28 parrot wpa_supplicant[1102]: wlan0: RSC 0000000000060000 is likely bogus, using 0
Mar 15 21:55:28 parrot wpa_supplicant[1102]: wlan0: WPA: Group rekeying completed with 00:0c:f6:ce:e8:60 [GTK=CCMP]

This happens to all the listed folders besides the computer one

I am thinking firejail is blocking something
