I managed to install Parrot OS 4.9.1 as a virtual machine in VMware Workstation Player and connect an external wireless adapter that supports monitor mode and packet injection.
Executing ifconfig from a terminal window shows the crazy interface name of the connected external wireless adapter to be ‘wlx24fd52279af3’ instead of the traditional ‘wlan0’.
However, in monitor mode ‘wlx24fd52279af3mon’ is automatically renamed to ‘wlan0mon’.
Is there a way to rename this ridiculous interface name to ‘wlan0’ ?
