TP-Link Wi-Fi Adapter Fix

I’ve read a lot of posts on the Internet about not being able to put PT-Link Wi-Fi adapters (second generation) into monitor mode. After a lot of trial and error, I finally found a solution that worked for me.

  1. Open Synaptic Package Manager.
  2. Type “IEEE 802” in the search field.
  3. Locate and click both “broadcom-sta-dkms” and “broadcom-sta-source” options.

Broadcom-sta-dkms

"Broadcom STA is a binary-only device driver to support the following IEEE
802.11a/b/g/n wireless network cards: BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-,
BCM4321-, BCM4322-, BCM43142-, BCM43224-, BCM43225-, BCM43227-, BCM43228-,
BCM4331-, BCM4360-, and BCM4352-based hardware.

"This package provides the source code for the wl kernel modules and makes use
of the DKMS build a utility to install them for the running kernel. The
alternative package broadcom-sta-source can be used instead in case of build
problems.

"The wireless-tools package is also required in order to make use of these
modules. Kernel source or headers are required to compile these modules."

These to drivers made it possible to place PT-Link into monitor mode. However, my laptop’s factory Wi-Fi adaptor no longer works. Additionally, the LED light indicating a connection no longer functions. And in order to get the network manager to function properly, I found it necessary to reboot my Parrot OS system.
