XKB error while trying to change keyboard layout

When installing the OS I choose en_US layout, but I’m currently using a pt_BR layout and when changing I got this error:

And even when changing the layout and deleting the english one it still detects as english.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue and same error message when trying to change to french keyboard

I use the mate parrot security OS on VirtualBox

I’d suggest everybody to install and use fcitx.
