Brave Browser doesn't work in 6.0 due to Ivy Bridge Vulkan support incomplete

– Please Write here your help request –
HI all. Love Parrot, been using it for years w/ no issues but 6.0 won’t allow brave browser to load despite using the same computer. I boot live each time, from usb, no persistence. Running Intel® Core™ i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz
The error message says:
MESA-INTEL: warning: Ivy Bridge Vulkan support is incomplete

libva error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so init failed

Hi @kickit2

Looks like Vulkan support for 3rd gen hardware “is incomplete”. Is Brave installed via apt, snap, flatpak, or AppImage?

I’m not sure if a fix, but you can go into brave://flags and turn off Vulkan (I think).

Hi, Thanx for reply. I have tried direct download from the brave site using the linux install and the snap store to no avail. I tried the Big Linux distro out of brazil, which comes w/ brave preinstalled and had no problems. Previous versions of parrot have worked fine, but 6.0 just won’t work. Also cannot get anonsurf working.

why are you posting this here on my post? It has nothing to do w/ my question

@kickit2
One question:
Did you buy the Parrot OS Forum website ??
cheers

I have Brave installed via the apt line

deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main

When launching Brave via the terminal, my 3rd Gen PC also outputs the error

MESA-INTEL: warning: Ivy Bridge Vulkan support is incomplete
libva error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so init failed

but Brave does open. Pardon the screenshots.
