I’ve recently encountered an issue with my Parrot OS VM (running on VMware Workstation) where sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade fail due to 404 errors for specific packages, while direct package installations via sudo apt install work without any issue. I’ve tried changing to multiple different repositories, but the problem persists, affecting only updates and upgrades.
My setup is a fresh Parrot OS install on VMware, with the network card set to bridged, and my host is Windows 10. Notably, another VM running Kali Linux updates fine under the same network conditions, suggesting a Parrot-specific issue.
I’ve checked for typographical errors in /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/parrot.list, tried different mirrors, and ensured my network settings are correct. However, the issue remains unresolved.
Any suggestions or guidance on troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated.
