KDE Plasma

I apologize, but I did not know what to select for this. I’m new to penetration testing and was loving Parrot Security when I first installed it. It was using KDE Plasma at the time, or at least that was an option. I am curious to know why it isn’t available anymore. Mate is alright, but I honestly think it is ridiculous that there is essentially two main menus. Of course, I might be missing something, because I try to do things through the terminal while I can, but as I am learning, this is funky to me.

  • ParrotOS iso in use:

  • Application used for flashing the iso:

  • Logs/Terminal output (use pastebin or similar services):

KDE Seems to be available still, but not KDE Plasma.
You can find all available DE’s by running apt search parrot-desktop-*

Here’s the Docs about the DE’s (because you have to switch to the other environment after installing a new one too: Desktop Enviroments | ParrotOS Documentation)

The menu in the Top bar in MATE is a panel btw, you can remove it if you want by right clicking on it and choosing “Remove From Panel”:

And you can create new panels and buttons too:

Hope this helps alleviate the DE struggle

Thank you for the tip! I didn’t know that I could customize the MATE environment like that. I am going with that for now to try it out.

I installed KDE Plasma using Synaptic Package Manager. Works perfectly!
