Where and how are you attempting to change the proxy settings?

in network proxy setting I want to add a proxy for https .I want to add a proxy ip along with port no without using openvpn or any other software.

In your Network > Edit Connections > Select/Create connection > Proxy.
Set your proxy here.

If this is the page one you’re talking about “Secure HTTP” means https. Https stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure.

i suppose that is on a virtual box if i’mn’t wrong

Here have a look. It works as intended. ( Same IP & Port )
Some things you can do.

  1. After defining proxy ; try logging out and logging in.
2.Check if your proxy is working in your terminal with ‘curl ifconfig.me’ & also check in your browser. If its working in terminal but not in browser, then browser might have separate proxy conf.
  2. If both of 1&2 don’t help try adding proxy variables to your environment (/etc/environment). Like in the screenshot. Your will need to re-login/reboot.
