Trouble connecting for updates

With a new install on a dell laptop (being used as a tower with external screen and keyboard), I did the initial apt update, which originally returned an error code (1), but after a restart and then ‘sudo apt autoremove’, apt fixed the issues and everything seemed fine. I installed a few normal apps, like chromium, audacity, and pulse audio effects. Everything still fine. Later on, I check to do a regular apt update, and now it doesn’t connect to the servers properly. Here’s the text from the terminal output:

UPDATE: still getting an error from running sudo apt update, but a different one now, and it’s also more functional (I was able to ‘sudo apt install pipenv’ whereas before it would hang up) so that was my main concern.

And now it is functioning normally again. Occasionally it will not connect to a server properly, but re-executing the update/upgrade works fine. Thank you if that was part of anyone’s effort

Hello @Linuxnoob, I would suggest you check the DNS your Dell is using or your router, a device restart would not be out of place. You can also try using a VPN to test if the issue still occurs.

edit: also apt is connecting fine now so the issue is fixed

yes I do use a VPN normally for browsing, it does help with connection problems when you can switch servers and protocols etc. Thanks you too have a good one
